Alphabet

"Alphabet" শব্দটি ল্যাটিন শব্দ "Alphabetum# থেকে এসেছে। আধুনিক ইংরেজী বর্ণমালায় মোট ছাব্বিশটি Alphabet আছে।

• Alphabet গুলোকে কোন ভাষার বর্ণ বা সংকেত বলা হয়।

• প্রত্যেকটা ইংরেজি বর্ণের দুটি করে পদ্ধতি আছে। একটাকে বড় অক্ষর ও অপরটাকে ছোট অক্ষরের বর্ণ বলা হয়।

   1.  Large letters: (বড় অক্ষর) A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-J-K-L-M-N-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-X-Y-Z 

   2.  Small letters: (ছোট অক্ষর) a-b-c-d-e-f-g-h-i-j-k-l-m-n-o-p-q-r-s-t-u-v-w-x-y-z

• সকল বর্ণ গুলিকে দুইটি ভাগে বিভক্ত করা হয় - VOWELS এবং CONSONANTS. 

এই ২৬টি বর্ণের মধ্যে 5টি VOWELS এবং ২১টি CONSONANTS .

• Vowels:

[ A, E, I, O, U ] এই 5টি বর্ণকে বলা হয় VOWEL.

Vowel গুলো consonant গুলোর সাথে মিলে syllable তৈরি করে।

Examples of vowels in words:

Sat, egg, diagram, ultrasonography, etc.

Here, in the word ‘sat,' a is the vowel. In ‘egg,' e is the vowel. In ‘diagram,' a, and i, are the vowels. Similarly, in the word ‘ultrasonography,' a, o, and u are the vowels.

• Consonants:

[ B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y, Z ] এই ২১টি বর্ণকে বলা হয় CONSONANT.

একটা শব্দে মাত্র একটি Vowel ছাড়া বাকি সবগুলোই consonant হতে পারে।

Example of consonants:

a) Carry. C, r, r, and y are the consonants.

b) Story. s, t, r, and y are consonants.

c) Earning. r, n, and g are consonants
